See more 06/19/2017 Pop Aye tells the story of a chance encounter, a disenchanted architect bumps into his long-lost elephant on the streets of Bangkok. Excited, he takes his elephant on a journey across Thailand, in search of the farm where they grew up together. Overall, Pop Aye is a wonderful first-feature debut for Kirsten Tan. Pop Aye is such a heart-warming documentary about a man and his elephant. It's a documentary that is very unlikely, and incredible to see. See more 04/24/2017 I have to admit; I was surprised at how good this is, especially when compared to the trailer. This is now probably my favourite film by a Singaporean director. It's lovely, graceful, layered, very funny, and at times deeply moving. A real breath of fresh air. See more 01/24/2017 This quirky offering substitutes slick production with authentic performances by amateur actors and a uniquely Thai style. While the dreamlike presentation of brief and fleeting moments of intensity may not resonate with all viewers, it is the perfect metaphor for the ruthless development of a western landscape in southeast Asia.
