Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com While there’s a great mystery concerning who these movies are for, the reality is blunt: we now have two Popeye slasher films in circulation, and they both stink. David S I've watched both Popeye's Revenge and this one and both are horrendous. Why can't writers/film producers/directors, just get a story where Popeye is a scorned sailor man lost at sea presumed dead and Olive Oyl his one true love moves on with Bluto, years later. After Olive pops some kids out, and dies say of natural causes (but it turns out it wasn't) Popeye 'POPS' back up not dead and finds out she's dead at the hands of her husband Bluto, so takes revenge against him and anyone that stands in his way - including Olive's children and the townsfolk. Where Bluto is the final boss. It's a simple story. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/25 Full Review Lincoln D Like any other horror, this one is literally one of the most regular and generic. Lacking in character development and proper horror, throw this one in the sea. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review IrateTyrant C So bad - it's good With my first actual foray into the realm of the subgenre, "Public Domain Horror", Popeye the Slayer Man definitely quenches a guilty thirst. I skipped Winnie the Pooh, and haven't had a chance to see any Mickey Mouse, but with a title like this, I had to make room for it. Because Slayer sounds like Sailor. In all honesty, the original Popeye cartoons did absolutely nothing for me. It's a good example of probably the first time in my life (as a toddler) that I felt compelled to like something because of its reputation, and found it to fall flat, as the cartoons were not funny and hardly entertaining at all. Here, in the horror genre, Popeye definitely finds new life. An unsuspecting victim of the new subgenre, himself, Popeye becomes ripe for gore and blood. The kills in this are genuinely pretty good. That may be partially because I absolutely hated basically all of the characters because of the bad acting and poor script. But it works! Especially Lisa, played by Marie-Louise Boisnier, these characters are so cringe, you will root for the villains. Even if the clingy boyfriend had been a killer in any scenes, I would have been sated in that more characters would die. Instead, Lisa gets a good enough death that it left me wanting more bloodshed. The monster costume is pretty great, too. Overall, this definitely falls in the "so-bad-it's-good" category. Fun stuff. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Umme H Popeye the Slayer Man is a fun and surprisingly intense twist on the classic Popeye we all grew up with. If you’re a fan of retro heroes with a modern twist, this one’s definitely worth a watch! I watched this After knowing that famous brand was named on this character, i don't know if it right or not but its a like a fan fact, and the brand is Popeyes USA fast food chicken chain in chicken sandwich is the dominent item: https://popeyesofficial.com/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Frank S Very very average some good ideas not great. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Michelle S Growing up I loved all Popeye cartoons even the black and white ones, also loved thr movie which starred Robin Williams. This movie was surprisingly good, a good gore movie, very entertaining. I hope they keep making them Im watching them all if so.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
