When small-town sheriff Gene Autry (Gene Autry) and his sidekick, Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette), finally take down Jim "Legs" Barton (William Pawley) -- an old friend who has strayed -- a fatally injured Legs convinces Autry to adopt his soon-to-be orphaned boys.
