The film may sometimes deliver what you hope for, but it’s an otherwise sloppy outing for Adkins, who by now should expect more from himself and his audience. Go to Full Review

The hard-working Adkins does most of the heavy lifting, impressively kicking and punching life into this serviceable throwback action movie. Go to Full Review

Too silly to fully convince, but too serious to enjoy as escapism, it ends up stranded in movie no-man's land. Go to Full Review

While leading actor Adkins can be relied on to commit to physically demanding roles, this wartime action thriller will fatigue its viewers almost as much as its star. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 5d Prisoner of War is an unexpectedly entertaining action film that combines martial arts and high-stakes combat in a way reminiscent of John Wick. The lead actor impresses with his physicality and skill, bringing energy and credibility to each fight sequence. Choreography is tight, dynamic, and visually engaging, keeping viewers invested throughout the film. The director maintains clear, exciting pacing, allowing audiences to follow even the most complex action scenes without confusion. However, the screenplay struggles at times, with awkward dialogue and underdeveloped scenes that could have added depth to the characters and story. Despite these flaws, the narrative holds together, and the emotional stakes provide motivation for the protagonist. Ultimately, Prisoner of War succeeds as a thrilling martial arts action movie. While not perfect, it’s highly entertaining, particularly for fans of intense combat, clever choreography, and adrenaline-fueled action sequences See more Lacey M Nov 15 A gripping, powerful film that masterfully blends tension and humanity. The lead gives a career-defining performance, and every scene is charged with emotion. With stunning cinematography and great fight scenes, this is a must-watch. See more Jerod S Nov 1 As far as martial arts death battles go, POW excels. As far as having a credible WWII plot, it fails. See more Ken M Oct 19 4 stars. It's not breaking any new ground but I feel the movie generally tries to honor both sides of the war, often in small or subtle ways (for example, Japanese military who were sympathetic to the POW atrocities.) Good fight scenes though the acting is average for the most part. The portrayal of Japanese POW atrocities might be difficult for some to view, but are not nearly as bad as what really happened or could have been shown. I like how the Filipino population is represented, though I wish they had been shown in a stronger manner. The movie is too white-western-centric (white man comes and saves everyone....) I don't think I saw one person of color though don't know the historical accuracy of how often they were taken captive (versus being executed). Still worth a watch if you're in the mood for a WW2 revenge film with good martial arts fight scenes. See more Robert B Oct 18 Great film. Ignore the critics, once again. Good acting, great fight scenes and gripping stuff. A cross between First Blood and Kickboxer. See more Read all reviews
