      Critics Consensus

Despite the rich source material, The Producers has a stale, stagy feel more suited to the theater than the big screen.

Ian B amazing lyrics, great songs, ok dancing, silliest storyline. Amazing performance from Nathane Lane and Will Ferrel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review Sam A I thought it was a fun movie with good characters and very funny jokes Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/23 Full Review Stephen C Ages 13 and older, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review D. R An absolute smashing movie with plenty of musical numbers and Mel Brooks' wit. Many witty references that will bring a chuckle. Fantastic casting, in my opinion. By far, my favorite movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/22 Full Review isla s This is a zany, wacky film, although after a while it all falls a bit flat. It features numerous musical numbers, given its a kind of a musical within a musical (a musical about the making (creation?) of a musical put together to flop). Its somewhat entertaining but to me it went on too long, with a fairly flimsy plot line. There is comedy, which is pretty cringey/cheesy its fair to say. If you don't like Will Ferrell's usual roles then you certainly won't enjoy this. I wouldn't say its not at all entertaining - its an easy watch but it just isn't particularly memorable. I also felt that the ending wasn't great. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Oof! This just goes to prove how much different a film can be, depending on the crowd you see it with. I remember this being fun as hell, watching it in the background with all my coworkers at the video store, countless times, having a blast. How shocked was I to find just how corny and annoying it actually is when I sit down and concentrate on it... Such a shame, considering how great the source material is.
