Simone P Prospect is a masterclass in low budget science fiction that punches far above its weight. Directors Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell deliver a hauntingly immersive world, rich with atmosphere and grounded in tangible grit. Every frame feels lived in, from the decaying spacesuits to the dense, toxic alien forest that feels as oppressive as it is beautiful. Sophie Thatcher is magnetic in her breakout role. Tough, smart, and vulnerable without ever leaning on cliche. Her unlikely dynamic with Pedro Pascal’s charming but dangerous drifter character is the heart of the film, striking a perfect balance of tension and begrudging trust. Pascal brings gravitas and swagger in equal measure, proving once again that he’s one of the most compelling actors working today. Always good on the eye as well. The film’s world-building is refreshingly subtle. There’s no exposition dump, just a slow drip of context that rewards patience. The dialogue is stylized and often poetic, giving the film an almost Shakespearean rhythm that sets it apart from typical sci-fi fare. If you loved Moon, The Mandalorian, or Annihilation, Prospect belongs in your orbit. It’s a rare indie that feels like a lost classic. The cinematography is really cool, and the story is interesting. I wanted to know more about it. I wish they had gone more in-depth into the universe it’s set in. The only negative points I have are that the audio (especially the dialogue) is sometimes not great, you'll need subtitles for some conversations. And of course, the ending felt rushed to me.
