Stephanie Myers Common Sense Media There are a few theoretical laughs, but most of the comedy is offensive and/or comes at the expense of a vulnerable character. The fact that the film is more than three hours long is also a big turn-off. May 31, 2023 Full Review José de Jesús Chávez Martínez EscribiendoCine ¡Que viva México! may not be at the stature of other works by Luis Estrada, but it still aims to reflect the sociopolitical reality of the country... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 May 10, 2023 Full Review Lorena Loeza EscribiendoCine After three hours of running time, it becomes difficult to understand why it emphasizes the people of Mexico as the problem. Despite this affirmation being somewhat true, in general, it's insufficient and unsatisfactory. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Mar 31, 2023 Full Review Ricardo Gallegos La Estatuilla An obsolete, reactionary, and narcissistic film whose bland criticism falls into classism, racism, transphobia, and speciesism. A crude, repetitive, unfunny comedy that has nothing interesting to say and drags on for 191 minutes. In other words, avoid this garbage movie at all costs. Zhiheng C I watched this movie to learn Mexican Spanish, and I totally enjoyed it meantime. As somebody born in China, this movie reminds me of the Chinese author Lu Shun in the first part of 20th century. He ridiculed the backwards way of then Chinese people in order to teach a lesson why China has been humiliated internationally. The same for this movie. Director Luis wants to teach his fellow countrymen, that unless they respect and be generous with each other and especially their own family, trust and invest in their own land and family (what would have happened if Pancho used his salary money to expand and continue his family business of mining??) there will only be misery and regret. On Netflix there are so many Spanish language shows with Spanish subtitle great for Spanish learners like me. However, a lot of these shows are lower quality and deals with drug trafficking which I don't have interest. This movie is stands out due to its quality of production and story (a very consistent story with a clear message) among the others. I also watched briefly other movies from the same Director in the past, and I can feel the significantly improved quality of this latest movie, congrats to the Director. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Stephany B I wanted to like it. But it's over 3 hours long. And I know it's satire and we Mexicans are great at making fun of ourselves but this just didn't hit the right spots. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Read all reviews
