A love letter to all things great and British from their castles, theater, aristocrats and classic cars to quirky traditions and self-deprecating sense of humor. Did you know that the Queen's Buckingham Palace isn't even the largest in England or that the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland is based on a real person? There's so much to discover. Welcome to being Quintessentially British.

Mutsureibo This saccharine take on Britishness, is a relentlessly narrow caricature of a people far more varied than the privileged strata portrayed here. Most of the British individuals interviewed are either actors, media personalities, lords and ladies, or purveyors of expensive suits, umbrellas, shoes and handbags. A new Britishness has arisen in the years since World War two due to immigration, the growth of the middle class and the colorful youth subcultures that are always present in British society. People are a lot more colorful, interesting and multi-cultural than this slice of one-percenters would have us believe. The makers of this documentary were not interested in truly exploring the breadth of British traits as they arise in contemporary life. They made a documentary for the Brit-curious tourist raised on Downton Abbey re-runs. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
