Empire Staff Empire Magazine The oddball nightmare style is effective but the prop pig and under par acting let the film down. Rated: 2/5 Oct 23, 2020 Full Review Christy Lemire ChristyLemire.com It isn't as nutty as it could have been, and it certainly isn't as nutty as its description suggests. Rated: 2/4 Jul 31, 2018 Full Review Variety Staff Variety The plot may be a bit familiar, but Razorback is no quickie: it's an extremely handsome production, beautifully shot by Dean Semler. May 29, 2008 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Complete with an expected low-angle pig cam, humorous gore, and unpredictable casualties, it offers dependable '80s B-movie thrills. Rated: 5/10 Sep 7, 2020 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Has a degree of menacing atmosphere that is virtually unknown to the giant man-eating animal genre. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 19, 2020 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst It's gorgeous to look at and plays brilliantly as a horror thriller, be it of nature vs man or locals vs outsiders. Daniel C. M Moby Dick and Jaws meet Jodorowsky and Lynch, and a boar; everything goes haywire. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Bumble B Main characters (Beth Winters & then Carl Winters) are as bright as blown bulbs and constantly mess up which makes them irritating as hell. Not to mention the two inbred brothers who were okay with assault, attempted R-word and attempted murder on top of killing a dog just because. What a croc of it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review william s Surprisingly Boaring (please clap) and not exactly what I was expecting in terms of pacing and general vibes. For a creature feature it leaned a bit too heavily on the weird people living in the outback than the actual creature itself. Simply put, I was definitely craving more of the titular creature. Even late into the movie I feel like we never got that big payoff shot of the enormous razorback in all it's glory. In a way, it feels unnecessarily artistic at times, taking itself too seriously. Just give me a giant pig that goes around killing people. Don't overthink it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Michael G For a pretty old horror movie, its very good. Set in the harsh Australian outback. The wild pigs there really are nasty, and big. Many of the Australian actors went on to become very well known eg Judy Morris. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/17/23 Full Review Trumphy V I stumbled across this movie on Shudder and loved it so much I bought the blue ray to add into the horror movie rotation for Halloween. This movie is not good but it's so over the top and bad that it's good. The colors and noises can be a little overwhelming but they just work for the tone of the movie. It's almost has a Jaws sense of tension with the feeling of being stranded and that the monster can show up at any moment. The only thing that kind of kills the hype for me is how long the movie is (1 hour 35 mins). There are a couple of places that feel like they were gonna wrap it up but then realized they had more money in the budget so kept going. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Shadowman4710 The common tag for this movie among critics is "the greatest movie ever made about giant pigs in the Australian Outback...in 1984." How you're going to react to this film really depends on your feelings about low budget horror films set in exotic places. For me, the film more or less works, based on the excellent cinematography and spooky atmosphere of rural Australia, which is almost a character unto itself in the film. That's probably good since most of the characters in the film are very thinly written and acted rather indifferently for the most part. Gregory Harrison as the American looking for his missing activist wife is solid enough but it's a standard performance in what is basically a monster movie.
