What to Know

Critics Consensus

Less a course correction than a compounding of everything that tangled up its predecessor, The Scargiver is an uninvolving space opera full of flat notes.

Audience Says

Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver is just as visually stylish as other Zack Snyder epics, which helps make up for the flat story and thinly written characters.

Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) It is hard to explain how much I do not give a flying fruit cake rolled up in a donut about any of these characters. Aug 15, 2024 Full Review Jesse Hassenger Guardian As a playground for Snyder’s favorite bits of speed-ramping, shallow-focusing and pulp thievery, it’s harmless, sometimes pleasingly weird fun. Rated: 3/5 Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Kyle Logan Chicago Reader This space opera sequel doesn’t quite capture the worldbuilding magic of its predecessor. Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Jason Best What To Watch It is not until The Scargiver reaches its humongous final showdown that Snyder really gets to show his chops. Sep 5, 2024 Full Review Jack Martin Film Feeder I just don’t understand why Snyder felt the need to turn this into a two-part movie, as the end results clearly show that there is no benefit to having this particular story be dragged out for as long as it has. Rated: 2/5 Aug 5, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Flick Feast A complete mess that not only fails to replicate the thrills of the titles that it blatantly rips off, but it disrespects its audience while doubling down on all of Snyder’s worst habits as a filmmaker. Ben J Never written a film review before, but watch a lot of them. So hopefully saying I’ve signed up to Rotten Tomatoes exclusively just to write about how truly, truly, truly awful this film is says all it needs to. Please for the love of god do not watch it. I’ve wasted over 2 hours of my life watching the worst acting I’ve maybe ever seen, with the weakest storyline, and a laughable end scene where a professionally armed and tank-equipped full time trained army get beaten by a third of the number of medieval villagers and a robot Antony Hopkins. Arguably - and I don’t say this lightly - the worst film I’ve ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review john k I have watched this over and over.Every time both Parts 1 and 2 you think you saw that scene and something new pops out.Zack Synder is a true pioneer on story telling. All of the cast menbers have a truly amazing task to perform to this level.I dont understand why all the criticism from the (experts).Definitely hoping that is just the beginning of a great series in the making. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Lâm C You can do multiple 15s skip without missing the story plot Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Benjamin L Right, so why two stars? Visually appealing but that is where the good stops and the bad begins. Story? Ehh, I have seen better writing and character development from 6 year olds (yes, actually). Stakes? Absolutely laughable, the imperium of man is like a group of 12 year olds running around with magnifying glasses burning ants, only this one 12 year old forgot that they had a magnifying glass and the ants go running for help because they were given warning ..... I think Pixar got there first Zack. Score? Feels like it was stolen straight from Ghost in the Shell or some similar anime, it's not bad, it just doesn't feel unique to this IP, don't underestimate the importance of a great score, what do you hear when I say Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Now do you remember what the score for this sounded like? Overall it looks good, sounds okay and drops off a cliff after that. Reworking the story from start to finish and upping the stakes could drastically improve this train wreck. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review C S Make it stop. PLEASE make it stop. What a boring mess. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Almost as good as part one, but some of the village fighting was hard to suspend belief over, though the ship-based battling was entertaining. I am excited and hopeful to see the next chapters in a few years. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
