An unscrupulous corporate lawyer, Henry Turner (Harrison Ford) will do whatever it takes to win a case, and treats his family with the same degree of ruthlessness. After Henry gets caught in the middle of a robbery and is shot in the head, he wakes from a coma to find that he has amnesia and can't even remember how to do the simplest of tasks. As he recovers and relearns how to function, Henry reveals a much kinder and more thoughtful personality, much to the surprise of his family and friends.

Critics Consensus

Although Harrison Ford makes the most of an opportunity to dig into a serious role, Regarding Henry is undermined by cheap sentiment and clichés.

One can make excuses for a 23-year-old writer's misunderstanding of human behavior, but how could Mike Nichols look at himself in the mirror when he directed such dumbfounding scenes. Go to Full Review

This is a film of obvious and shallow contrivance, which aims without apology for easy emotional payoffs, and tries to manipulate the audience with plot twists that belong in a sitcom. Go to Full Review

Ed . Aug 29 Regarding Lobotomies The natural progression is to then study the effects on a family of a ruthless breadwinner who receives an unexpected lobotomy. We can then brainstorm other methods that render jerks increasingly docile. Regarding Henry is a good example of a movie that basically keeps our interest yet never rises above pablum. While not 'art' or even a 'good film', this is in itself an achievement. See more s c Feb 24 Strong performances by Annette Bening (always excellent) and Mikki Allen are the highlight. Harrison Ford is good but not great in this one. The rest of the supporting staff are also excellent. I would watch it again. See more Candice B Dec 30 I love this movie. See more Karen H 10/08/2023 This movie is a fine script and brilliantly directed by Mike Nichols. Great acting ,sensitive thought provoking re the meaning of life. Very authentic. I can't imagine why anyone would give this a bad rating. Unless they haven't seen tragedies turn to gold with hard work and the right attitude. It's a classy deep thinking well paced movie in all respects. See more Read all reviews
