      What to know

      Critics Consensus

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion has an admittedly slight premise, but it's elevated by ample heart, an infectiously playful spirit, and the buoyant chemistry of Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino. Read critic reviews

      Movie Info

Ten years after their high school graduation, Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) haven't exactly accomplished everything that they set out to do. Despite their strong friendship, their personal and professional lives are still lacking. When they hear of their upcoming high school reunion, they take it as an opportunity to show their classmates how much they've changed -- first by trying to reform themselves, then by creating a lie that eventually spins out of control.

There are a few truths in this sweet, funny movie, and they look so adorable in the dance sequence at the end. I'm serious.

Okay, is this Romy and Michele's High School Reunion or a sing along? Assuming that we are talking about the movie, I can say how much of a yawner it was. This is supposed to have some hidden meaning or purpose? Can't really tell I'm afraid.

Almost painful to watch. Mira Sorvino's dumb blonde act doesn't ring true to me. How do they live such an extravagant LA lifestyle without jobs? The real reunion ending makes the inane movie a little better. Mira seems like she can actually dance, and Alan Cumming is surprisingly sexy.

Romy and Michele were losers in high school, and not much has changed in the ten years since. They live in a trashy apartment, with no jobs, no boyfriends, and no sense of fashion. Romy is ashamed of their life and forces Michele to join her in a maniacal plan to lose weight and find boyfriends and great jobs. However with the reunion looming, she decides that with no prospects, they'll have to improvise. Armed with business suits, cell phones, and a story about inventing post-its, they take the reunion by storm under the guise of successful businesswomen. Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow are an excellent match-up, believable as best friends. Inevitably, they are exposed, and learn that the most important thing is that they remain true to themselves. I would be lying if I said that it was a classic, but thanks to some good acting, and very well judged humor it manages to amuse.
