Leo Goldsmith Not Coming to a Theater Near You Ultimately, the film serves the function of a music video for Aphex Twin, and not one that breaks any new ground. Aug 7, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Cunningham never fails to impress me. With a strange experimental design and an electric soundscape, Rubber Johnny is an excellent short. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Aphex Twin + extremely disturbing visuals by Chris Cunnigham = pure surrealistic bliss. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I remember when this creepy thing was shared all over the internet as real footage of an alien. The first scene really was creepy and could easily be mistaken as such, though later on this short movie becomes something much more different. After a condom being pulled off a dick we are presented a trippy music video starring a hydrocephalic, wheelchair bound teenager who reflects light beams, snorts coke and smashes his face against the screen. Pretty bizarre and worth the 6-minute watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member If I told you I understood Rubber Johnny, I'd be lying. But I'd also be lying if I told you I didn't enjoy the hell out of it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Covers no new ground, you say? Even as a video for Aphex Twin, Rubber Johnny stands on its own. This film supposedly cost a lot & took years to finish - and it's 6 minutes of sordid genius. The cost & length of production has apparently made investments scarce for Cunningham, which is why we haven't seen anything from him so long, unfortunately. He's able to do things with 'talkie' technology that makes me feel like I'm watching the advent of cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Extremely unsettling at first, in a great way, and then the following music video is fun too.
