Walter V. Addiego San Francisco Chronicle No one says filmmakers have to be objective, but there's a point where you can alienate even those who agree with you. This picture eventually goes off the rails, and it's likely to please only the most virulent of Schwarzenegger haters. Rated: 2/4 Jan 11, 2008 Full Review Kevin Crust Los Angeles Times Perfectly in tone with election season, Dan Cox's documentary plays like a 30-second political attack ad (at 144 times the length), rehashing the accusations that have been bouncing off the Austrian-born movie star for years. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 11, 2008 Full Review Tim Cogshell Boxoffice Magazine There is simply nothing revelatory about any of it, however salacious. This is all old news and consequently not particularly interesting. Jan 10, 2008 Full Review Andrew L. Urban Urban Cinefile The nave clarity of the bias makes the film a bit more fun to watch, as Dan Cox takes the baseball to Arnie' image and his persona with a relish Nov 8, 2008 Full Review Bob Strauss Los Angeles Daily News This is a would-be hatchet job that's too petty to cut past the Governator's protective beefcake. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 11, 2008 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Metromix.com Even if you sympathize with the movie's politics, it's impossible to embrace its hysterical approach. Audience Member Features one of the most far-fetched Godwin-esque arguments of all time: Arnold likes dogs. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Narrated by Alec Baldwin. Former Variety Film Editor Dan Cox goes after his subject as only an award-winning journalist can in the hotly anticipated, politically charged documentary Running With Arnold. Through interviews, archival footage and comic satire from the likes of Bill Maher and Rob Schneider, Cox tells the story of one of the most recognizable men of our era. In this detailed political portrait, we learn of how a once skinny farm boy growing up in post-World War II Austria and only barely speaking English went on to become a mega-muscled, mega-star and megalomaniac living the high-life in Hollywood. Cox's endless sources and nose for the news reveals what Schwarzenegger's camp couldn't keep hidden - about his sex life, his ego and his deceptions. Even with the help of infamous Hollywood snoop Anthony Pellicano. Arnold's ambition and cunning can be admirable. In his political ascent, he has become the epitome of The American Dream in well-tailored Armani suits. But there is a sordid side to his glory. With the Governator in charge of the world's fifth largest economy and a looming big to amend the Constitution to allow for his campaign for the Presidency, Arnold is one of the most subversively powerful men in America. Or at least he thinks he is. The way Arnold sees it, if he wants it, then he gets it. Or at least he should. Now is the time to decide for yourself if intimidation, broken promises, lies, half truths and a "hands on" approach to women are as acceptable as they are expected in today's American politicos. While you're at it, revel in the kitsch of the perma-tanned muscle man's dazzle as he brings the circus campaign to town. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film. Arnold is a douchebag. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member LoL, this was a little hokey and crazy but entertaining, none the less. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member some interesting stuff but ts pretty bias if u ask me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member You wouldn't think a movie about Arnold Schwarzenegger could be so boring. Pumping Iron is much better.
