      Critics Consensus

Derivative and clumsily assembled, Rupture manages the tricky feat of making arachnophobia seem dull.

Audience Member Some good ideas, but unfortunately unfulfilled. Seems like a constant state with Noomi Rapace films. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Rapace is usually terrific in sci-fi and adventure film. Here she is her usual believability - in a sadly thought out script. Rupture is ruptured by its cynicism, a vision of humanity with no future. Run from Rupture. Pathetic ending. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member was interesting at first but the ending and big reveal fell so flat. silly cgi too (80s cgi quality) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/21 Full Review Audience Member The escape attempt could have been met with more suspense. More torture methods could have been used on the main character. The ending when overdone and longer then it should be. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is horrible. Don't waste your time. It is impossible to follow along with, without getting lost. There is no actual storyline to bond with. Something to keep you interested in it. Honestly, a few of the actors are great actors but this movie likely messed up their reputation. Moving on to a better movie. Maybe I will watch Twilight next, much better than THIS mess of a movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review harry r It was not worth the time to watch it. What is odd is that it will keep you intrigued till the end but you will come away from it feeling, what on earth did I watch? Not worth the time. Jessica Kiang Variety It's been 15 years since Shainberg's wonderful "Secretary" and 11 since his lesser, yet still interesting "Fur," but this film replaces his facility with gentle, peculiar inquisitions into fetishism with something much more generic. Apr 28, 2017 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com It's not involving; it's not scary; it's just kind of miserable. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 28, 2017 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Dreary, derivative and flat-out dopey, this dragged-out torture tale will disappoint even those whose hearts race whenever they see a female character strapped to a bed. Apr 27, 2017 Full Review Kip Mooney Fresh Fiction Had loads of potential to be truly frightening, or at least intriguing, but it's dead on arrival. Rated: D Aug 10, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Rupture is a rather disappointing return for the idiosyncratic director, and would have benefitted greatly with some more tightly honed characterization and less aimless wandering through a retrofitted office building. Rated: 2/5 Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Adam Patterson Film Pulse Using played-out torture porn tropes, this sci-fi horror film feels like a Syfy channel pilot released in the early aughts that never made it to series.
