Stephen Cole Globe and Mail Dunn and McFadyen have done Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart the service of resolving their eventful, four-decade career. It's a smart, lyrical, often funny movie. Rated: 3/4 Jun 11, 2010 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Fans will gorge on this deft, year-by-year portrait of the ultimate enduring cult band. And even a skeptic may come away with an affection for the intricate labor of Rush's skewed-time-signature epics. Rated: B+ Jun 9, 2010 Full Review Andrew Pulver Guardian A wonderfully engaging and genuinely interesting career profile of Rush, those most derided of prog-rock shriekers, tracing their path from anonymous Toronto suburbia to self-effacing power-trio legends. Rated: 3/5 Jun 4, 2010 Full Review Brian D. Johnson Maclean's Magazine Being able to play several time signatures in one song at lightning speed may be a dubious skill, but the film shows that the band has a surprising sense of humour about its excesses. Aug 26, 2019 Full Review Shelagh Rowan-Legg That Shelf As a film, there is little that is interesting or imaginative. May 18, 2018 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com The great thing about "Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage" is that the documentary enables a new-found respect and regard for an incredibly energetic and creative band that recognize their strength as the sum of their talented parts. cameron c Rest In Peace Neil Peart. Great documentary about one of the greatest rock bands Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review s r Showed me Rush's story. I'm still not a fan though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't have much to say about this one; I really enjoyed it as a fan of RUSH since I was in middle school. 2112 was one of the first non-Weird Al albums I had, and it was gifted to me by my Dad. Imparting this look into prog rock was one of the coolest things and one of my best memories of my Dad and I hanging out when I was younger. The doc is pretty well patterned; the story just tells the stories of the band growing up and their career - pretty straightforward stuff. The big takeaway is just how generally easygoing and funny the band actually is and their sense of humor and Canadian quaint upbringing is reflected in their just wanting to be the best band they can be and make the best and craziest music they can. It's on Netflix! Go watch it, if not for the groovy tunes alone! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome for any fan, let alone a Rush fan. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member why make a documentary about band tah doesnt even do drugs? stupid waste of time at least i did meth after now that was a RUSH AAAAHAHHAHAHA Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member My favorite band. I feel it's pretty self-explanatory from here on. Only documentary I've seen of the band and the only one I want to see Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
