Jordan Hoffman UGO I love Donnie Darko. It is ominous, funny, replete with ... well-observed moments. S. Darko is a callous attempt to cash in on its well-earned appreciation. Rated: D Aug 11, 2009 Full Review Heather Wixson Dread Central Director Fisher does a decent job of taking the reins and delivers a dark and delicate tragic fairy tale to audiences. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 10, 2011 Full Review Rossiter Drake San Francisco Examiner This 'Donnie Darko Tale' is all style, no substance - a superficial imitation that retraces the original's twists and turns but offers none of its own. Rated: 2/4 Jan 30, 2010 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures It's been reported that Richard Kelly has completely disowned this movie, and for good reason Rated: 1.5/5 Jan 9, 2010 Full Review Brian Holcomb CinemaBlend The entire project seems to sweat from the exertion of its writer Nathan Atkins and director Chris Fisher to do something-anything-to make the film worthwhile. Rated: 2/5 Jun 20, 2009 Full Review David Cornelius eFilmCritic.com It wants to echo the original but can't figure out the rhythms. Rated: 2/5 Jun 2, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Thaddeus B This stinks of cash-in and nothing more. Writing that rises no higher than fan fiction. Much pointing to things from the first film. Protagonist wanders around a town with the all the urgency of a unmemorable video game character just to encounter people and recycle the same concept as before with different characters while doing nothing to elaborate or expand on what we learned the first time around. This is a waste of everyone's time and that nice camera. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Justin T The film looks great, the picture quality looked great, it moved nicely. Some shots were a little soft. Sound design was subtle and similar to the first movie with some nice surround touches. Great bass here and there. The music was awesome. Different from the first movie. The theme of the girls being on the road was really cool but it was let down by the dialogue which was quite pretentious and obvious. It basically copies the first movie but in a new setting. Extended music video style sequences were fantastic. I actually really enjoyed this movie. Beautiful girls, dark theme, American road movie, stunning setting. If you ignore the fact it is a sequel and ignore the creative faults this is excellent. I didn't like the main guy - he pouted too much. It is not a patch on the first movie and would have never existed without it but it's surprisingly fairly engaging and entertaining. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Georgan G Watched this right after Donnie Darko and it's not much of a sequel. The baby sister is now 17 and running away with a girlfriend. They have gory adventures going back in time to make better choices. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review Liam D This doesn't feel like a Donnie Darko sequel but more of an confusing and boring fan fiction by Chris Fisher (Supergirl, Hawaii Five-0) and Nate Atkins (24, Masters of Horror) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/24/22 Full Review Gianmarco R In this film you do not understand anything, but not in a positive sense such as that it is a film to be interpreted but you do not understand anything because the plot makes no sense as it is a badly copied plot of the previous film. In general the film is boring and shooting and tries to ride the fame of Donnie Darko but fails because you understand from the first ten minutes that this film can not even think of aspiring to Donnie.
