Sheriff Church (Robert De Niro) and Detective Zeppelin strive to keep the peace in their rough town, where residents' only two interests are the church or oxycodone. Newly engaged Shelby John (Jack Huston) and Ruby Red want a fresh start. They decide to have a family together and get clean, with the support of Peter, Ruby's brother-in-law (John Malkovich). However Shelby discovers his beloved Ruby dead on their porch before she could fulfill her final wish: to be baptized in the river and washed away from her past sins. Filled with fiery rage, Shelby embarks on a vengeful killing spree to right all the wrong done to Ruby by every link in the drug dealing chain. Armed with nothing but adrenaline and a nail gun, Shelby picks off dealers and junkies one by one until he gets to the top. Sheriff Church and Detective Zeppelin must race against the clock to put an end to Shelby's vigilante justice before his fight with the crime lord Coyote (Quavo) turns the entire town into a bloodbath.

Perhaps Emmett was trying to make a film that would broaden its appeal by crossing over into other markets, but the opportunistic pandering is obvious, and some may even see it as blasphemous.

Savage Salvation squanders the talents of a venerated Hollywood cast. Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, and John Malkovich stumble with Southern drawls as backwoods Georgia residents. They're unconvincing in a predictable narrative with a grating soundtrack.

A bit of a miss for Emmett here. B grade at most. No idea how De Niro and Malkovich was convinced to star in this. Not that bad but story lacks integrity, writing is just sub par. As far as revenge goes, this is surely not high up on the list

I thought this film was pretty good, not in award winning territory, but worth a watch. I chose it because I thought the action sequences would appeal to my husband, but the story line was deep enough to give the movie meaning. I enjoyed the little bit character development we got before we reached the tragic conflict in the story. There was a lot of really beautiful but heartbreaking elements in the story. I also found the faith and redemption part of the story touching and beautiful. It seemed like a rather short movie and it did not drag on at all. This film is pretty well done for what it is.

Aunque es una película con un guión un poco torpe, las actuaciones de ellos dos luchando contra la abstinencia es muy real, aparte el señor De Niro con solo aparecer en pantalla te brinda algo de valor extra, Jhon Malcovich como siempre excelente y un climax de la película y un giro al final bastante inesperado, parecía que no iba a ser buena y termino siendo una buena historia , superando los primeros 20 minutos la historia se pone buena

No sé que vi, es una película hasta el minuto 50 con un ritmo y un tono totalmente distinto a los siguientes 50 minutos. Al comienzo de la película te dicen quien es el jefe final. Entran personajes mal escritos estereotipados, como Shelby escucha a 200 metros, errores de continuidad. No se debió durar mas de 50 min
