Jonathan G The director Nobuhiko Obayashi is known for his distinct visual style and nostalgia infused coming of age story, both of which are at the heart of School in the Crosshairs. The protagonist, Mitamura Yuka, played by the great Hiroko Yakushimaru, is a lovable and quirky high school student. For sure the visuals and the story are a little eccentric, with psychic aliens and cartoonish visuals, but beneath that veneer lays a solid tale of conformity and fascism pitted against personal expression wrapped in an engaging love story.
