Norma C This is my number one favorite Christmas movie. It’s a drama with big heart. The story is sweet and heartfelt. I’m a lover of Christmas movies and I watch too many every year. This movie was a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie when it first aired. I wish Hallmark would bring it back, this truly is a movie of distinction. The story follows a woman trying to keep her niece and nephew safe from foster care. She retreats to a small town where she’s is welcomed and the children thrive. Patty Duke is an angel that guides them on their journey. It has a happy ending of course, tissues are a necessity. Highly recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this, and look forward to seeing this every year! I like it just as much as the classics"White Christmas" & "Its A Wonderful Life"! Its not Christmas until I see this again!????? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting is great and the characters are funny and you can't get enough of them, so it's the kind of movie that you can watch every year. Movies and T.V. shows so often make kids look dumb, but the kids in this one are the smartest characters. Despite that, they're in remedial classes at school, which may be a jab at our society's flawed and underfunded education system. Several of the characters come together to help them read at grade level. Since the setting is a small town (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania?), the townspeople are very close and the sense of unity is slightly more important than the law. Thus, people let a little more slide and are not quick to press charges. As someone who lives in a small town, I know this to be true.
