TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 4h Secret Obsession is an okay film, but unfortunately, that’s about as far as I can take my praise. The screenplay is rough at times, and there are so many missed opportunities that I kept wondering what this could have been with stronger writing and direction. It often feels like the filmmakers were simply generating what was already there rather than finding ways to develop the story into something more meaningful. Brenda Song is easily one of the better parts of the film. She does a good job portraying the victim and has several pivotal moments where her fear and vulnerability come through. Unfortunately, even her performance has moments that feel drowned out because the story doesn’t always give those emotional beats somewhere to go. The biggest problem is that the movie has the foundation for a stronger psychological thriller but doesn’t fully take advantage of it. The suspense is inconsistent, the story can feel predictable, and too many opportunities are left unexplored. See more Antony B @RT29664284 Jul 26 I really enjoyed Secret Obsession.
