There are a few funny moments here and there, especially some politically incorrect lines where characters reveal that they believe the stereotypes about each other. But no one here seems quite real. Go to Full Review

So few Gallic films get a theatrical run in Toronto, it's a farce that this offensive, unfunny comedy should be one of them. Go to Full Review

Writer Guy Laurent and writer/director Philippe de Chauveron have taken the germ of an idea and let it fester into something truly sickness-inducing. Go to Full Review

Claudio C @Claudio666 Nov 21 Globalization in Love (12,078 – 21 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In Chinon, the conservative Catholic bourgeois Claude Verneuil (Christian Clavier) is happily married with Marie Verneuil (Chantal Lauby). Their three older daughters are Isabelle (Frédérique Bel), who is married with the Arab lawyer Rachid Benassem (Medi Sadoun); Odile (Julia Piaton), who is married with the Jewish dealer David Benichou (Ary Abittan); and the sensitive Ségolène "Ségo" (Émilie Caen), who is married to the Chinese Chao Ling (Frédéric Chau). Claude expects that his youngest daughter, Laure (Élodie Fontan), marries a Catholic French banker that lives in Washington. When the family joins in Christmas, Laure tells her parents that she will marry Charles Koffi (Noom Diawara), who has travelled to spend Christmas with his family. But she omits one detail about Charlie that will affect the Verneuil family. "Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au bon Dieu?"a.k,a, "Serial (Bad) Weddings" (2014), is one of the best French comedies ever, with a story of globalization in love and rac ism. Christian Clavier, one of the best French comedians, performs the bourgeois Claude Verneuil, a man disappointed with the choice of her three older daughters for husbands. His hope is the baby of the family, Laure Verneuil, performed by the gorgeous Élodie Fontan, marries a man according to his principles. But when she chooses the African Charles Koffi to be her husband, her mother falls in depression, affecting the whole family. The situations throughout the story are hilarious and the conclusion is heartwarming. In the end, this is a highly recommended comedy also for intolerant people. My vote is eight. While the story and character development don't offer many surprises, it remains an enjoyable comedy that delivers plenty of laughs. See more 01/03/2018 There's something about French comedies that involve a family drama that makes them so entertaining to watch. This is the case with this movie as well. I enjoyed it a lot. See more 05/24/2017 It's astonishing how this film appears to be misinterpreted outside France, where it got a great popular success. While far from being anywhere near sensational, it's a funny enough and cute comedy which does not convey but mocks stereotypes. See more 03/03/2017 Very funny. Ending a bit disappointing. See more 01/02/2017 you have to know about the new France and all its racial polemics -- but this is a very funny comedy ... well written, very well acted, it makes fun of all ethnic stereotypes equally and ends with the requisite happy ending and a message of tolerance and understanding which is much needed (if not in vogue) everywhere See more Read all reviews
