Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times This is a no-frills special consisting of Meyers talking to the audience as if we’re all friends and we can all relate to the stories culled from his experiences as a husband and father — stories exaggerated for comedic effect, of course. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 3, 2024 Full Review Karl Puschmann New Zealand Herald Dad Man Walking is best described as the Casual Friday of comedy specials; it’s loose and comfortable but still operating professionally. Jan 23, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked The special helps define Meyers’ stage persona as a likable family man with an edge. Rated: B+ Dec 19, 2024 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba The special is warm and genuinely funny, a perfect antidote to the relentless noise of social media and politics. Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider Of all of today’s late-night hosts, Meyers remains the least likely you’d expect to see doing stand-up comedy, and yet somehow, he’s also the most proficient of them at doing it right now? matthias s **Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking – 2.5 Stars** Seth Meyers is a funny guy—no doubt about that. But *Dad Man Walking*? It just didn’t fully work for me. The first half is basically a long monologue about parenting, and honestly, I just couldn’t relate. I’ve heard so many comedians do these same “kids are exhausting” jokes that it all feels a little stale. It’s safe, predictable, and not exactly fresh material. That being said, the second half picks up when he shifts to talking about meeting the president and joking about his wife. Still not super relatable, but at least funnier. I definitely prefer him behind the desk on *Late Night* rather than doing straight stand-up. He’s naturally witty, but this special just felt a little too polished and, well… done before. Not a bad watch, just not something I’d go back to. If you love dad jokes, you might like it more. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Monica S This special was very funny and sweet. Highly recommend. I’m ready for his next one! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review Kimberly K Super funny. I don't have kids but that doesn't matter. All of his stories were funny and relatable. I watched it twice in 3 days. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Bill C Genuine, warm and very funny. Neal Brennan adds a great deal of value in timing as the Director. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Birithivy Y Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking - 7/10. I feel like Seth was always a good writer than performer. His comedy is funny, but I always felt like his dry wit came by as super plain. And the thing is, that plainness is just kinda boring at times. Again, the material is great here and Meyers is good at creating hilarity out of normal things about fatherhood and parenthood. But, as much as the jokes themselves are funny, he just plainly delivers them. He’s an alright showman, and that is perfectly fine too! He’s carved a good following for being relatable, and that he is! But, as a standup, this is more of a good watch in terms of the material rather than the delivery of the jokes. Cool that Neal Brennan is directing this though! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Jazzy J Wish I could get the time I wasted back.
