Synopsis
In 1995, the devastation of the Great Hanshin Earthquake causes journalist Keita Onda (Kyozo Nagatsuka) to reflect on the death of his eldest brother decades before -- and his own tumultuous childhood in the years following World War II. As a young boy, Keita (Hideyuki Kasahara) accompanies his siblings, mother and disciplinarian father, Koichi (also Nagatsuka), to bury the ashes of their fallen kin. Along the way, the mourning Onda family struggles to adjust to life in occupied Japan.
