Steve D I love seeing Granville given a more mature role but there isn't much here. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Audience Member good prison/escape pic Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome propaganda movie! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Seven Miles from Alcatraz (1942) -- [4.0] -- James Craig and Frank Jenks escape from Alcatraz and take up shelter at a nearby lighthouse. The convicts manage to keep the lighthouse staff at bay, but things get a bit more challenging when a trio of Nazi spies join the party. "Seven Miles from Alcatraz" is claustrophobic and stagey, with some icky overacting from James Craig. The narration doesn't help, and the end of the movie -- which sees the convicts forgiven for their aid in uncovering the Nazi scheme -- is just plain corny.
