Most fictional films simply can't capture the immediacy of the experience the way a raw chronicle like this one, from director Kristian Fraga and 1st Lt. Mike Scotti, does. Go to Full Review

Puts you in the boots of a Marine fighting in Iraq in 2003. Go to Full Review

Much of this footage might have been illuminating, even fascinating, in 2003. But seven years on, it's ancient history lacking insight, hindsight or a fresh take. Go to Full Review

Adding a strong narrative and profanely honest voiceover viewers can take as understandable, disturbingly self-indicting or both, Severe Clear is an uncomfortably watchable war diary. Go to Full Review

A handful of real Iraqis were shown, bodies destroyed by explosion and gunfire--and, in the end, what I'm calling this movie is entertaining. That's no tidy proposition. Go to Full Review

03/30/2014 Great 1st person, legit film. You follow real life Marines and their problems day in and day out. What I wanted to give props on was that they did not hold anything back. If you CANNOT handle swearing, death - basically what a soldier sees, hears, says, and fears - then I would not even begin to consider this film. See more 09/13/2012 it was an amazing movie! See more 08/26/2012 Nothing new here. Bush and his gang should be trailed for crimes against humanity. End of story. See more 07/11/2012 I was glued from start to finish. Most of us aren't aware of what we send our soldiers into when they went to Iraq. Sending our young men into a battle that some of us don't agree with, but not trying to make a political statement. Awesome! It makes you wonder, what happened to these Marines? See more 05/09/2012 Released in Australia as 'This Is War', this is the real life Jarhead. Interesting, confronting and real. See more 05/03/2012 An unflinching look at the first weeks of Iraqi Freedom, shot Cinéma vérité by a First LT. The film is often graphic, trying to show how war really is, not just reported on the "news." In the end, even the most devout Marine is faced with the idea that we were all sold a bill of goods for this war, but that does not compromise who our soldiers are-they still defend what America is about. The movie is available at Red Box, but titled "This Is War" and not "Severe Clear." See more Read all reviews
