J C I would rate zero if I could. This has to be one the worst movies I've ever seen. It's basically a character assault on anyone female. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Michael T Entertaining, but pure silliness. Natalie Wood at the height of her beauty. Tony Curtis doing his comedy thing. Don't expect any big laughs. The sexual revolution Hollywood style 1964. A little time capsule. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Blu B When it focuses on Curtis & Wood it's a half decent Rom-Com. When it doesn't it's all over the place. Everything about it is pretty mediocre overall. Sometimes it's a musical, sometimes it's a car chase thriller, and sometimes its about the other couples. The storyline feels bloated becuase there is too many characters in this and doesn't feel like they contribute as much to the story as Wood & Curtis. The other big issue is a lot of the acting is very on the nose and not subtle with its subject matter throughout. It isn't really witty as much as just spelled out a lot of the time the subject matters. The car chase at the end dragged, felt out of place, the cop was stupid, and went full on slapstick silly it felt like and against the tone of everything else. This needed to get rid of the musical numbers, the stupid car chase ending, cut out the Fonda/Bacall subplot (even though I know its big part of the plot), and focus just on the two leads while being less on the nose. If your a big fan of any actors in this (especially Wood or Curtis) than give this a watch. Otherwise skip it. There are much better Rom Coms out there than this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/04/23 Full Review Steve D Wood is solid but the film pulls its punches and is strangely judgmental. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review David K Thoroughly about the actors - all great - in a ridiculous movie. I found myself wondering how Helen Gurley Brown could allow herself to be used like this. I guess people didn't care as much about image as all the so-called influencers do today. Variety Staff Variety As usual in this type of farce, male and female leads have fewer comic lines than supporting players. But Curtis registers exceptionally well when detailing supposed marital problems to adviser. May 27, 2008 Full Review Tom Milne Time Out Graceless stuff, criminally wasting Bacall and Fonda as a couple with marital problems (they're in love, but constantly quarrelling), and with Quine's moderate flair for comedy nowhere in evidence. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review A.H. Weiler New York Times Spain never looked lovelier, but the banal romances of the lightweight principals in this retooled vehicle make the trip wholly unnecessary. Rated: 2/5 May 9, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an agreeably lighthearted setup that is, for the most part, employed to sluggish and underwhelming effect by Richard Quine... Rated: 2/4 Oct 19, 2020 Full Review TV Guide In a small role as a production man, note Wayne, who appears as Benjamin Franklin in a superb one-man show around the world. Storch also turns in a neat cameo as a motorcycle cop. Rated: 3/4 May 27, 2008 Full Review Steve Crum Video-Reviewmaster.com 1964 sexual revolution fodder, with some slapstick for redemption.
