Denny S Not quite as downright awful as some of the reviews, and while it is certainly no "She Done Him Wrong" or "I'm No Angel", it is an entertaining curiosity of a film that really looks more like a TV movie than a big screen motion picture. Mae was in her 80s, she's a bit creaky, the camera goes into soft focus on closeups, and the whole idea of men half her age going nuts over her is pretty ridiculous. But the old girl is game, and she surrounds herself with some old pros like Tony Curtis and Walter Pidgeon as well as contemporary folks like Ringo Starr, Alice Cooper and even Keith Moon of The Who (who is pretty funny in his one scene). It's a bit of silly fluff, campy as hell, but worth a look. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/23 Full Review Audience Member As much as I love Mae West and I do in fact find her very fascinating regardless of her age, Sextette has nothing more but bad writing and forgettable musical numbers. No matter how many big name cast members this movie has to offer. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Mae West is taking them all!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member If you can’t find some humor in all the absurdities going on in this film then you have no sense of humor at all, This is like a gay camp version of a Jodorowsky film. Granted, this movie seems to have more of a plot you can follow but still, the point is you watch for the spectacle and absurdity of it all. There is no point to any of it. It’s just there to exist and it doesn’t disappoint lol Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/15/21 Full Review Audience Member This campy calamity brings new meaning to the dictum "go West young man!"—while a disco duet between the octogenarian and James Bond had me thinking, with all due respect to the legendary sexpot (none of which is on screen here), "go to bed, old lady." Cannonical scale: 1.5/5 — The whole affair is honestly too bad and too depressing to riff of in good conscious. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Mae West was well in her 80's when starring in "Sextette." Mea was slow- moving, but she still comes across as a sexy and funny actress. It truly amazes me how she can look so good and be so cool. Mae's costumes are so glamorous, and her makeup is really on point. The scene when she is visiting with those boys and finds her pink cassette is so funny. I know it may not be her best film, but it is still a fun, colorful, and campy film Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Gilbert Adair Film Comment Magazine Sextette is, of course, a bad film, shakily acted, carelessly written (from "a play by Mae West") and directed without an iota of style by Ken Hughes. What is striking, however, is the wholly relative degree of its badness. Sep 12, 2017 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Sextette is a cruel, unnecessary and mostly unfunny musical comedy. Jul 6, 2010 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Mae West's swan song to cinema at age 86 is one of the world's all-time worst movies, but that doesn't detract at all from its immense charm and lewd fascination. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Michael Bronski Gay Community News (Boston) Sextette will probably end up being a midnight/cult item. It’s quirky and bizarre. Its humor catches you off balance and, in the end, it’s pretty funny. Sep 6, 2022 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com Like the Mae-Goes-Disco version of Baby Face that climaxes the film, it burns it way into your consciousness, leaving you changed inside forever... Rated: 1/5 Mar 24, 2021 Full Review Jesús Fernández Santos El Pais (Spain) Beyond the well-known plot, old songs, and new actors, there's something pathetic about Mae West holding onto the idea of a body when the body no longer exists.
