Ben H Shattered (or Butterfly on A Wheel as it did on my Dvd) is great. Fast paced, against the clock with lots of twists and turns. I really liked the ending which (without spoiling anything) was so clever, if you rewatch it, you'll actually see it from a different perspective. A great thriller. Fast paced and great performances, especially Pierce Brosnan. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/23 Full Review Ronald H There's nothing more fun than watching yuppies going through hell in a movie. Yes, I know that "yuppie" is considered an archaic term, but believe me, it applies perfectly to the married couple in "Shattered," Neil and Abby, played by Gerard Butler and Maria Bello. He's an upwardly mobile ad executive; she's a stay at home mom raising their precious little daughter. When they leave their kid with a babysitter and get into their Land Rover to join Neil's boss at a weekend retreat, a bad guy, Tom Ryan (a sneeringly hateful Pierce Brosnan) pops up in the back seat and jams a gun into Neil's neck, demanding a large sum of money or his kid will die. The "babysitter" was apparently an accomplice and has squirreled the kid away somewhere, awaiting instructions. Ryan forces the couple to go in their bank and withdraw their life savings. Then, when they're driving away, he sets the money on fire and throws it out the car window off a bridge. What's going on? Well, a lot of twists and turns are ahead, and I'll not spoil anything. Ridiculous, plot-driven movies like these either succeed or fail based on the performances and the characters. In this case, Butler and Bello are serviceable, but it's Brosnan who holds the entire thing together. He's downright despicable, and it's a pleasure to watch him. Unfortunately, the movie's final reveal will make you slap yourself in the head. It's so absurd, it almost ruins everything that has gone on before. This is a briskly paced thriller, strictly popcorn fare, that will hold your attention in spite of its silliness. And Brosnan is worth the price of admission. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Paulo H A good Thriller with excelents plot twists, with a ending a little predictable, but with spice. Not a must see, but keeps you entertained. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A good thriller keeps you in suspense & guessing what the heck happens till 100m. There are so many why? Why don't knock the guy down, tight him up & prevent him from making calls? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member As I am Northern Irish I feel I am qualified to say that Brosnan's accent is horrendous. Yes, it would be a hard accent to replicate but this was patchy at best. Aside from the irritating accent fails the film itself wasn't all that bad. There was a fair amount of suspense throughout and twists and turns that kept me guessing. As it turns out… I think I enjoyed it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review samuel l Utter nonsense. You can apparently blatantly assault people in the street and hang out of a moving car to throw a briefcase full of burning money without attracting any attention. The villain didn't have much power at all, and the main character could have contacted the police without the villain knowing. Then the twists were predictable, despite the wife deserving an Oscar for the show she put on without any training or practice. The amount of realism was off the charts. The characters felt unoriginal and rather dumb, some of the dialogue sounded fake, and the events became repetitive, leading to worse pacing. The acting was fine but unremarkable, the sets/props/costumes weren't particularly convincing, the cinematography, visual effects, and editing were average at best, with a horrible grainy effect and poor lighting, and the soundtrack was undistinguished.
