Audience Member Ching Gong can't manage dialogue, suspense, or narrative in "The Twelve Gold Medallions" and so what could have been on par with King Hu's "Come Drink with Me" (1966) and "Dragon Gate Inn" (1967) amounts to little more than a true -- and at times truely frustrating -- wuxia pian. A strong performance by lead actor Yueh Hua and Sammo Hung's strike-the-iron-when-it's-hot choreography help make this overhyped entry in the Shaw catalog estimable of a marginal recommendation.
