jon c Another dog film joining the ranks of Lassie, My Dog Skip, and Old Yeller Based on the popular book by Phillis Reynolds Naylor it follows a beagle who runs away from home The owner Judd is abusive and this little dog comes across a young boy named Marty played by newcomer Blake Heron They become fast friends even though he knows Shiloh belongs to someone and even his father makes it very clear, but Marty is determined to keep the dog safe not just from this bad hunter but also another stray Judd doesn't even hide the fact he has to physically mistreat Shiloh Heron really shines as this young boy with a big heart determined to save this animal while also getting others to see reason There's a lot of going back and forth between this hunter and this kid so a lot of it may feel very repetitive The ending feels rewarding yet it just stops after that One more scene would've helped wrapped things up a bit more flowingly Whatever the case this is a good animal buddy flick for the whole family A lot of emotional intensity and deals with real issues yet manages to engage the audience with a lovable furry pooch in the title Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Andrew A The characters are unbelievable. The acting is sub-par. The message is nice but the film is nothing special. Kids may like it.
