Claire F I object at times to Moore's boorish approach, but this film brought tears to my eyes. Our healthcare system is shameful. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review Thomas M The best documentary movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/22 Full Review dave s In Sicko, Michael Moore tackles health care issues in America, problems fueled by corporate greed, corrupt politics, and America's irrational fear of anything remotely associated with the word socialism. Is it objective? Of course not, being a Michael Moore documentary. However, of all the subjects he's tackled over the years, the injustices generated by the American health care system seem to be a thoroughly one-sided debate, a repugnant system that has destroyed countless lives. Moore's attack is two-pronged – there are countless anecdotal personal stories as well as an examination of how other countries with universal health care, including Cuba, manage their programs. It is a clear condemnation of much of what is wrong with the United States – the rich profiting off of the poor. It might be Moore's most powerful film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The greatest 01 hour: and 53 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starring director Michael Moore as himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review christopher walter f At times you can see that this "documentary" was an acting stage. There is nothing factual in this film. A load of garbage aimed for those with the IQ of a dandelion. Stuart Klawans Film Comment Magazine This is the essential ill that Sicko addresses, in an eruption that's the most unruly and uncategorizable part of the whole movie, and the most unmistakably heartfelt. You want the truth? Moore can handle the truth. Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Caryn James New York Times Sicko is wildly comic while tearing apart the country's health care system. Nov 30, 2017 Full Review Bob Mondello NPR.org There's plenty of grandstanding, most of it very funny. And in this instance, all that sizzle is selling the steak. Oct 18, 2008 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The filmmaker has the habit ... of never going to the root of a problem. The lack of depth and seriousness, the extreme limitations of his conceptions are enormously debilitating. Feb 14, 2021 Full Review Felicia Feaster Creative Loafing In Sicko, Michael Moore's irreverent comedy has become less bleating and more purposeful, perhaps in part because the times we live in have become more desperate. Jan 29, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News For the most part, this is a more restrained Moore and the result is another solid documentary that cements Moore's status as a filmmaker capable of making an audience laugh and think at the same time.
