Audience Member Exciting...emotional. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member a motorcyclist inherits the prototype for a fast racing bike. quirky British drama. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Struggling British motocycle racer uncovers a revolutionary prototype cycle in his late brother's garage and forges on against the big money teams to challenge at Silverstone. Nice to see Christina Raines here, I thought she was fine in Nightmares. A couple of sappy montages notwithstanding, this one features a familiar underdog story which usually works. Essex stars and also provides the music, the title track which was a Top 10 hit in the UK but failed to score (like the film itself) in America. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member "Roy of the Rovers" David takes on Goliath plot line. Its a howl from start to finish. Homemade bike takes on the big teams and beats them. You can play spot the cliche right down to the ludicrously OTT ending. Pretty much a vehicle for David Essex's limited talent, his pop career was over by now and he was trying to make it as an actor. He should have stuck to singing, as a singer he only sucked, as an actor he was truly appalling. Beau Bridges must look back at this and shudder. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This starts off rather badly with a very obnoxious but well-funded and successful US racer (loosely based on Kenny Roberts?) and his poor but ambitious UK counterpart (loosely based on Barry Sheene?) who has an old Transit van and a day job in a regular garage. This general set up is rather lame, slightly unbelievable and so is much of the acting and dialogue for the first 2/3rds of the film. Anyway, once things pick up and the actual 'big race' gets under way, the film actually becomes quite exciting. For what looks very much like a 1970s film, some of the stunts are very good (but hardly shown) and every effort seems to have been made with the bikes & tracks. The ending came as a genuine surprise! A lot better than I expected it to be. 6.5/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member the way bikes wer ment to be ) fast as feck 2 strokes with a slight himt of gastrol r in the air Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
