Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Simpatico is a long slog through perplexities and complexities that disguise what this really is: the kind of B-movie plot that used to clock in at 75 minutes on the bottom half of a double bill. Rated: 1.5/4 Feb 14, 2001 Full Review Jane Sumner Dallas Morning News First-time feature director Matthew Warchus can't keep the plot from bewildering and even distancing the viewer. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Michael Atkinson Village Voice It's a shame Nolte and Bridges weren't cast as brothers, because the two have similar rumpled-suede faces and irritated-bark delivery. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com With the cast and the pulpy neo-noir storyline, one would never suspect that the film is the crushing bore that it is. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 7, 2009 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film This is an engaging movie, which shows its theatrical origins, both positively and negatively. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 31, 2007 Full Review Jeffrey Westhoff Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, IL) Nolte and Bridges have too much talent to play their uninspired characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Bahad j I felt like the characters in this movie could feel the happiness and difficulties that they faced in real life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Georgan G An unusual crime drama about blackmail & confidence games. We watch as current day middle agers think back to youth. In the end it's all about starting all over, again. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed the movie more than most because I'm from Lexington and can relate to the Thoroughbred industry. I can see how viewers without knowledge and familiarity of the region and traditions would get lost in the story line. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Really quite an interesting little story. With great actors. But too long drawn out. And a really bad ending, that leaves everything up in the air..and is not worth the wait. Give this one a miss. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
