Brad P Skyman definitely reignites that sense of cosmic wonder you may have felt while pondering the possibility of other intelligent life in the universe, but the encounter itself isn't particularly awe-inspiring. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Dumb. Not much depth or payoff in the end. Not sure who the target audience was because I like this stuff and it put me to sleep 3 or 4 times.... it was flatline for the brain. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member SKYMAN just wasn't as awkward as they were trying for. I can appreciate the film makers wanting to give the character validation at the end but I didn't feel too worried he wasn't going to ultimately find what he was looking for. If they would've turned up the doubt some more, it would've worked better and made his validation more satisfying. Conversely, they could've interjected more fringe experiences during the run to keep our attention. Comparatively, the Mila Jovovich movie "The Fourth Kind" was more entertaining in that way and worked better for it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member So, I have a soft spot for UFO movies but this was so much more, this was really a character study on those interested or those who have experienced something out of this world. The whole time I was watching I felt like I was watching a documentary on the travel channel. That is the brilliance of Dan Myrick and the outstanding acting from Michael Selle and Nicolette Sweeney. Aside from the subject matter which already drew me in, the cinematography and choices of shots were so crisp and easy on the eyes. I loved this movie!!!! Barry Hertz Globe and Mail Come, if you must, with the guarantee of a shriek-y climax, but stay for Selle's impressive feature-film debut, and Myrick's inquisitive, and ultimately sympathetic, look at those who remain on the fringes of the fringe. Jul 16, 2020 Full Review Eric Kohn indieWire Before its messy climax, "Skyman" works well as a tragicomic look at the nature of extraterrestrial obsessives. Rated: B- Jul 2, 2020 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Myrick's decision to keep the narrative simple, and instead concentrate on the characters, means there's always a thick strand of sympathy and tragedy at play. Rated: 3/5 Jul 2, 2020 Full Review Zoë Rose Bryant Loud and Clear Reviews Skyman is a compelling character study with a sci-fi bent that inventively inspects alien interactions on an intimate level. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 1, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix It's a movie that's stuck on an irritating and boring repeat loop of the main character preparing and talking about something that doesn't happen until the last 10 minutes of this 92-minute snoozefest. Jul 28, 2020 Full Review Jonathan W. Hickman The Newnan Times-Herald ...with "Skyman," Myrick gives us a little of what worked in "Blair Witch" but, thankfully, with a bit steadier hand on the camera.
