Blu B There's some things it manages to capture from the first that are still good but none of it is better and most isn't that good. Burt Reynolds is great for the most part with the same charisma and Gleason is too. Sally Field can be very hit or miss. She feels like sometimes shes just there honestly. Reed is forgotten about half the time. The Steelers cameos were pointless. The editing and pacing aren't good here. The first was jumpy too and in tha regard it has the same nonsense plot of the first with a stupid elephant instead of beer. But this can't sustain or even get momentum going hardly besides the first 20 minutes or so. The humor just falls flat most of the time despite an occasional laugh here and there. This also lacks besides the over the top ridiculous car battle at the end any of the cool action the first had. Where the first alternated between the two really well, this is mostly just flat/bad comedy 80% of the time. Than the soundtrack is just....alright I guess with dumb circus music in place of that iconic theme. And a banjo track that's good but just reminds you of the first. Everything else is just alright. There are some dumb scenes in this and they don't have the same charm energy, or most important...Fun of the first. And that's the biggest thing here that's at the root of the cause. The lack of Fun. This just exists to try and repeat the first basically. Also I love how they attempt to give the bandit some character devlopment but just completely throw it out the window in the end making it completely pointless. This is all on top of stuff just happening, just without the energy of the first. This can get so boring at certain points. Skip This. Even the actors seem to be going through the motions and give a vibe of not wanting to do this movie.
