Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times If it doesn't achieve real depth or transcendence, it may be because reassurance is its end. Which may be just what you crave, after all. Dec 10, 2021 Full Review Ashley Moulton Common Sense Media True to the brand, the piano-based score is lovely and Snoopy and Woodstock's visual gags are very silly. Rated: 4/5 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Shifting the perspective to the usually confident Lucy, and showing a moment where she has a lack of confidence, is refreshing and welcome. Harold W I thought this was a lovely New Year's story with a kind message. I was not used to sympathizing with Lucy's character, so this was a nice change from the Peanuts universe. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/24 Full Review Spencer P A Peanuts Holiday special that impressively doubles down on its animation and emotion, For Auld Lang Syne is a New Year's celebration that I would say deserves to be heralded as a classic alongside "A Charlie Brown Christmas"! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review Meydiana R I really loved this. The animation was better than in any prior Peanuts special, and the characters all looked great. Interestingly, Charles Schulz himself didn't much like the drawing and animation in the old Peanuts specials produced when he was still with us. I think he'd love this. So well done! Authentic, yet new things have been added, including a refreshed characterization of Lucy, and it's very welcome. One of the reasons I liked "The Peanuts Movie" is that Snoopy was changed so that he actually cared about Charlie Brown. In the strip, he didn't even seem to recognize his owner, and that always kind of irritated me. The producers of the movie fixed that, and Snoopy was much more likable IMO. Same deal with Lucy in this special. Her story was very moving and believable as to how a child might feel about a beloved relative not coming for Christmas. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I just got Apple+ so I decided to watch this. Wow very good! Looks a lot like the old Peanuts shows but better. Nice fresh take of Lucy. Great music - I really liked Snoopy's band. A new look for old characters. I call this progress and I look forward to more.
