Steve D A mess that wastes all its talent. It really thinks it has something to say. It is wrong. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Audience Member I think I'm one of the few people who liked this film. I didn't love it though and it's an adaptation of a good book wasted. The producer is accountable I imagine. The lighting has the contrast and inconsistency of a student grad film. The grading struggles to keep up with the dodgy lighting. The edit leaves unnatural breaths between actors lines making conversations sound weird and stilted. What saves this film from complete disaster is a ensemble of excellent performances. The cast were great and were let down by the production. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Cossetted emptiness. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member It was very preschool. The things it addressed are things that everyone feels and gets over when they're young. It was pretty dumb. I'm tired of people making movies just to make movies. We need more depth and an interesting story. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A dor nem chega a doer. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Good (not great), but worth the time. Kinda "Holden Caulfield," but not quite. Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This cliche-ridden coming of age story is as painfully awkward as its troubled teen protagonist. Oct 8, 2012 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times Several kinds of excruciating. Rated: 0.5/5 Oct 4, 2012 Full Review Joe Neumaier New York Daily News His pain may be useful to James someday, but to viewers, it's annoying right here and now. Rated: 1/5 Oct 4, 2012 Full Review S. Jhoanna Robledo Common Sense Media Listless coming-of-age drama about teen's ho-hum "problems." Rated: 1/5 Oct 24, 2012 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue The film takes itself too seriously while it tackles familiar territory. Oct 8, 2012 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It's not exactly a trainwreck of a movie, but Someday This Pain is so void of depth and meaning, it often resembles a parody of the bruised teen subgenre.
