Country girl Rebecca (Carla Gugino) has spent most of her life on a farm in South Dakota, and, when she goes away to college in Los Angeles, Rebecca immediately feels out of place in the daunting urban setting. She is befriended by a savvy party animal named Crawl (Pauly Shore), who convinces the ambivalent Rebecca to stay in the city. When Thanksgiving break rolls around, Rebecca, no longer an innocent farm girl, invites Crawl back to South Dakota, where he pretends to be her fiancé.

While there may be some mild culture clash yucks to be had for those who enjoy Pauly Shore's shtick, this Son-In-Law is too obnoxious to be worthy of bringing home to your family.

Pauly Shore movies age better than you expect...he seems way less weird than he did back in the day. This film is no exception. It's cheesy, but heartfelt and enjoyable despite The Weasel being himself the whole time. Hard not to love Pauly.

A classic trip into '90's culture, Pauly Shore is exactly who he is supposed to be and that's Pauly Shore. Son in Law carries it's own fun, gags and fun loving antics that are great representation of the youth and humor of a 90's teenager.

Charming Paulie Shore that while not a classic, passes the time fairly well. Shore is his usual self as Crawl, originally a bit out there but actually turns out to be a fairly decent guy, to the point he doesn't like deceiving other people when he doesn't have to. The supporting cast is solid, with a young Carla Gugino appealing as Rebecca Warner while the great Lane Smith brings gravitas as her father. Behind the camera, director Steve Rash crafts a thread bare comedy, relaying mostly on Shore's antics. It not game changing but not a bad way to pass the time, especially if you have a Hulu account. Plus, since it takes place on Thanksgiving, an okay watch during the season.
