Brian Lowry Variety As adept as the animation unit usually is at bringing the tone of the comics to the screen, at times this feels like a sitcom premise. May 2, 2014 Full Review Andrew Pollard Starburst Ends up feeling like a massive case of style over substance, a movie mishandled in so many ways. Rated: 5/10 Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seanax.com Batman becomes not just a father figure to a young sidekick but in fact a father, trying to teach his arrogant and highly talented ninja assassin of a son a less fatal approach to combat and crimefighting. Mar 17, 2016 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed The worst from the DC library yet. Jan 20, 2016 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Violent and noirish Batman is engaging but cynical. Rated: 4/5 Jun 17, 2014 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered Neither terrific nor terrible, Son of Batman bears some similarities to a Saturday morning Batman cartoon; it's fast-paced, action-packed, entirely disposable and extremely fun at times. Robert M Batman and Robin have long been a dynamic duo, but it's not every day we get to see the complexities of their relationship laid bare in such a compelling way as in Son of Batman. This animated feature is a genuine triumph, offering a fresh and engaging take on the Dark Knight's world. The film delves into a fascinating new dynamic with the introduction of Damian Wayne, a character whose fiery personality and brutal upbringing provide a stark and captivating contrast to Bruce's stoic nature. The animation is nothing short of spectacular, bringing the action to life with a kinetic energy that truly captures the essence of these iconic characters. From the fast-paced fight sequences to the quiet, emotional moments, every scene is rendered with care and precision. The voice acting is top-notch across the board, with Jason O'Mara delivering a perfectly understated Batman and Stuart Allan capturing all of Damian's rebellious spirit. What truly makes this film shine is its surprisingly heartfelt narrative. It's not just a story about heroes and villains, but about a father and son struggling to connect and find common ground. The journey of Damian, from a cold and merciless assassin to a hero in the making, is both believable and deeply moving. Son of Batman is a thrilling, character-driven adventure that enriches the Batman mythos and stands as a testament to the enduring power of these characters. It’s a must-watch for fans of the caped crusader and an excellent entry point for newcomers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/18/25 Full Review A.R B I mean it's not the comic, why didn't they adapt the comic? Damien is also way too calm he's meant to be quite brash and very aggressive towards his dad, the iconic. Just follow the comics. I'll add too that the animation is really poor, they really don't do it like they used too and opt for this cheap animation now. The background art is quite good I'll give it that but the characters just feel lazily done. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review Guy C Damien meets his father Bruce Wayne after his grandfather (Ra's al Ghul) dies and Talia comes clean as Bruce takes him under his wing as the new Robin. Great film I really enjoyed this series of films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Isaac E This movie didn't like crazy impress me or anything, but as a Batman fan I really enjoyed it. The story actually wasn't half bad and I thought Deathstroke was a pretty good villain. It got surprisingly violent and bloody for a PG-13 movie as well, similar to the other DCAMU films I've seen. I was a little worried going in because I had read some reviews online and many people's main criticism was that Damian was really annoying. Even as a Batman fan, I haven't read a ton of the comics and was unfamiliar with the character. I honestly didn't think he was very annoying at all, and in fact thought he was pretty cool and a good side companion to Batman. He probably had the best actions sequences too. I still don't love Batman's voice in this universe, but am starting to get use to it. I was actually thinking most of this movie that the voice actor for Deathstroke would have been a decent pick for him. Other than that though, this Batman checks all the boxes on what you would want from this character. Like I said before, the story wasn't half bad but definitely wasn't great either. It takes kind introduces a weird and somewhat out of nowhere plotline in the second half that kind of felt a little off. The writing for the dialogue was really weird too. Those were really my only two major criticisms with the story though. Damian has a pretty good arc that kept me invested in the movie, and the action scene with him at the end was just awesome. Content: Should be PG-13 Intense Stuff: 5/10 Language: 4/10 Sex and Nudity: 6/10 Violence and Gore: 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Aryan G It's a 7/10 movie to watch as a Batman fan. Nice movie on Robin's character and also his relationship with Talia and Batman/Bruce. Though not a great way to introduce Batman in DCAMU they showed instead Robin. Deathstroke as villain was worth and the fighting scenes were lit 🔥🔥. The pacing was slow but overall the opening scene and ending was good. Screenplay was 7.5/10 and characters were 8/10. Plot was 7.5/10. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Eye C Slow at the beginning but about in the middle takes a good pace and finishes well.
