Petros T Apr 17 Roberto Benigni is mostly quite decent as Inspector Clouseau's son, and the film is not without its funny slapstick moments bringing the old movies to mind. Also, Herbert Lom, in his last film before retirement, is a reassuring presence, and it's great to have Graham Stark play Auguste Balls again. However, the overblown and not very well-thought-out action plot seems a bit loud for this kind of film, which certainly puts a damper on the proceedings, and the humour doesn't always land very well. Benigni is mostly trying something different here but none of it works (His character might just be too much of a nice guy in a series that often thrived on Sellers' pompous Clouseau). Il film si chiama "IL FIGLIO della pantera rosa", non ha nulla a che vedere effettivamente con gli originali de la pantera rosa. Chiariamo subito quindi che valutare un film del genere basandosi su quelli di Peter Sellers è da sciocchi, anche perché chiaramente è un tipo di umorismo diverso, uno stile diverso è un personaggio diverso (bada, non attore, ma personaggio, è il figlio). Il tipo di comicità usato qui si potrebbe dire che sia molto fisica, con gag che si susseguono una dietro l'altra senza sosta, ma rimane comunque una comicità pulita. Benigni è un attore che dà il massimo in ogni ruolo e lo dimostra. See more 08/28/2021 This movie looks as if it started out as a serious attempt to revive the Pink Panther series, but in mid-production everyone decided it wasn't going to work out, so they end up going through the motions. The plot is weak-really, Dreyfus ends up being in love with Maria Gambrelli? And the laughs are few. Roberto Benigni is the only person in the movie who shows any enthusiasm, and he is the only one who seems to genuinely try to be funny. Unfortunately, he ends up acting silly, rather than like Clouseau who is a man who tries to act dignified even in spite of all the (unintended) bumbling he does.
