      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Robin Wright Penn and Abdel Kechiche's powerful performances aren't enough to keep the increasingly unbalanced Sorry, Haters from tottering completely off its axis.

Audience Member Robin Wright nails crazy lady in this all-over-the-place drama. When she hails an Arab cab driver, their stories start to mingle as Wright weaves a big web of lies. Most of the movie is unexpected, right up until the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review jay c This film starts out very slow and boring but it builds up to an ending that will probably leave you in utter shock and disbelief,so it is really worth hanging to the end of it.Robin Penn is truly great in this film as is her co-star.but robin's performance should have earn her an oscar,it was that good Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This to me was one of those philosophical movies that just ends up being an oversimplified conversation about very important issues. I don't want to spoil the ending for you, but if you make it past the half-way mark, it's worth sticking around for. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A strange movie that will make you angry, confused, sad, indifferent, happy for a second, then shocked as hell. I didn't know how to feel. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie starts with Penn and Kechiche on a cab ride. That scene is flawless! Then Stanzler takes this movie on several turns that just don't fit, especially one near the end that will shock you. Now the movie fails in my mind but it's worth watching for Penn. How she was able to look at this script and come out with this performance is beyond me. Lisa Kennedy Denver Post As the characters unravel -- and how -- so too does the movie. Rated: 2/4 Mar 24, 2006 Full Review Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune A preposterous screwball psychological drama called Sorry, Haters, a film roughly as successful as the phrase 'screwball psychological drama' implies. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 18, 2006 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It contains such a gripping performance by Robin Wright Penn that it succeeds, in a way, despite itself. To see great work is a reason to see an imperfect movie, and to observe how the movie loses its way may be useful even if it's frustrating. Rated: 3/4 Mar 18, 2006 Full Review Charles Cassady Common Sense Media Stereotype- and expectation-busting indie drama. Rated: 3/5 Dec 15, 2010 Full Review Kam Williams Upstage Magazine A psychological thriller with a cleverly-concealed subplot likely to surprise even the best of cinema sleuths. Rated: 3.5/4 May 31, 2007 Full Review Prairie Miller WBAI Web Radio A product of a younger, confused generation raised on a junk diet of corporate media propaganda and tabloid news substituting hip for history, it's distanced from any candid self-reflection, while demonizing women as the main source of global distress.
