Luke Buckmaster Guardian The film-makers insist a little too much that he’s a fundamentally decent person. Spit still feels like a real character, however, largely thanks to Wenham’s superb performance. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Anthony Morris ScreenHub Wenham is clearly having a lot of fun and his performance as the new kinder, gentler Spit is often surprisingly warm and heartfelt. Sanding off his rough edges does come with some drawbacks though, and a mellower Spit is a less obviously amusing Spit Rated: 3/5 Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Jo M A charmer-with-empathy film that hits the right notes - you don’t quite know what’s coming next, Chikka gets his come-uppance, David Wenham‘s stellar performance ably supported by some great Australian actors enjoying themselves, with the well told addition of the injustices and human spirit of detainees - plus hysterical running in thongs and great dance moves at the end. What’s there not to like? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Rod W A sequel long time in coming, but definitely worth the wait. This movie starts slow as Wenham redefines his footwear habits and dubious social skills after his hiatus, yet the film is a compassionate build of Spit’s secondary character of the first flick and is ultimately a story of closure which works a satisfyingly meandering path between the surviving cast and the newcoming performers, all of them fantastic and true to the new story. A good sequel will always pay proper homage to its origins and the climactic courtroom scene may even exceed the original, Your HHonour Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Kitty D I had NO idea this was a sequel until after I'd seen the movie. I will never forget the vision of Spit running in thongs or trying to walk up an escalator the wrong way. David Wenham in the titular role was absolutely hilarious. This movie is one I didn't know I needed to see. Hilarious in parts and poignant in others, it's a breath of fresh air and, at the end, shows the Australia of which I am proud to be a relatively new citizen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review dylan r After 20 years he still hasn't got rid of that cold sore thongs nor mullet but with a heart of gold. David Wenhams Spit still shines 20 years later as a dero you can't not love. Solid performance from all... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Read all reviews
