Luke Buckmaster Guardian The film-makers insist a little too much that he’s a fundamentally decent person. Spit still feels like a real character, however, largely thanks to Wenham’s superb performance. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Anthony Morris ScreenHub Wenham is clearly having a lot of fun and his performance as the new kinder, gentler Spit is often surprisingly warm and heartfelt. Sanding off his rough edges does come with some drawbacks though, and a mellower Spit is a less obviously amusing Spit Rated: 3/5 Mar 11, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Julieanne B What an enjoyable movie, made me laugh out loud and even made me shed a tear. You don't need to have seen Getting Square to enjoy it - I hadn't, but I watched it afterwards and then rewatched Spit and it gave me a better understanding of the characters and a better appreciation of Spits character arc. The way the writers tied the two together is brilliant, just a shame Sam Worthington doesn't at least make a cameo appearance. David Wenham is an Australian treasure, his whole body commitment to his role was something out if this world and his comedic timing is always on point. If for no other reason, watch it for the courtroom scene! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/25 Full Review Adam T David Wenham is a great character actor but the film itself is neither compelling nor very funny. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Leanne M Loved it. So nice to see a good Aussie film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/25 Full Review Bernard M Excellent film with David Wenham again stealing every scene as the title character. This film has so much heart and has some very funny scenes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/05/25 Full Review Les N Splendid. I've always liked this character! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/05/25 Full Review Wayne M The comedy is corny and cliche. The story is unfortunately typical Australian, muddled, and with a shifting of point-of-view that quickly diverts interest away from the main character, Spit.
