Cath Clarke Guardian Sprinter is a movie that leaves virtually no sporting cliche unbothered, yet it's rooted in a naturalistic, emotional family drama reflecting the specific pleasures and perils of life in Jamaica. Rated: 3/5 Sep 5, 2019 Full Review Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader A crowd-pleaser devoid of false sentimentality, thanks to its disarming young lead, Dale Elliott, and a sturdy supporting cast that includes Lorraine Toussaint and Dennis Titus. Aug 19, 2019 Full Review Courtney Howard Variety This jogs along a predictable path, but makes a mad dash straight for the audience's gut right before the finish line. Apr 27, 2019 Full Review Renee Schonfeld Common Sense Media Heartwarming sports drama has sex, language, and drinking. Rated: 3/5 Nov 4, 2019 Full Review Stephen Carty Radio Times Yes, it contains the occasional corny moment but Sprinter ensures you want Akeem to succeed, which is what really matters. Rated: 4/5 Sep 7, 2019 Full Review Damian Levy Jamaica Gleaner It's not a perfect film, but it's an entertaining, thoughtful, and thought-provoking one. One that ought to be seen on the big screen. Bryan S Very well made movie... Honestly was not expecting alot but the cinematography and acting were on point along with the music and the story. Definitely a must watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An awesome view on life in Jamaica Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review jeremy l I was a little disappointed because this movie had gotten good reviews. Undeserved redemption for a mother who sells out her family for a good life for herself seemed to detract from the main storyline. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Portrays an indomitable strength to overcome adversity. It also showcases how children are affected when parents migrate for a "better life" for their children/family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It was good. No shotta overkill. Believable Scammer element portrayed well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This sports drama was really good. Dale Elliott, David Alan Grier, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The plot to the movie was dramatic and a great comeback story. It's about fighting for your dreams and the choices you make along the way. I would recommend this movie to anyone. It's worth seeing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
