David Sterritt Christian Science Monitor Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould made a finely antic pair in MASH, but their bizarre comradeship alone does not a movie make. You also need plot, comic dialogue, sturdy characterization, and lots of other things you just won't find In SPYS. Aug 6, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Another movie which pairs Sutherland and Gould, directed by Kershner (who's most famous for directing Empire Strikes Back). It's really pretty funny for the most part, and quirky too. I enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member (***): Thumbs Up An oddball comedy that works. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Donald Sutherland is funny in this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The theme song is amazing, the rest of the "comedy" is not funny at all. I watched the featurette on the DVD and it's clear that even Elliot Gould didn't think the script was very good and he only did it to hang out with Donald Sutherland...that's not a good way to make a film.
