There is a rare sense of purity and sincerity to Stanleyville that make it almost inexplicably enthralling, while still remaining very, very funny. One of the years hidden treasures, this is not to be missed.

The whole thing is a fun and interesting experience, and if you’re a fan of The Olympics, this might be worth checking out since the structure is similar, except it is darker and involves considerably lower stakes (or maybe not?).

Recommended if you like Mike Judge, Matthew Barney, Yorgos Lanthimos, Roadrunner cartoons, Roald Dahl, Bunuel, Hitchcock's Rope, David Lynch, and , yes, The Squid Game (though the resemblances are superficial)... An ambitious, dark, strange, and intriguing movie.
