Russ The mystery is inscrutable but Mr. Powell is debonaire and witty as usual and Miss Rogers is a treat for the eyes even without her dancing shoes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/23 Full Review Steve D Thin-Man ripoff and Thin-Man was extremely overrated. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/12/23 Full Review Frances H Not bad but the Thin Man series did it a lot better! However, If you are a Thin Man fan and have seen them all over and over, this is worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/26/20 Full Review Tom M This isn't fooling anyone, this is a 'Thin Man' movie. Powell is wonderful as the amateur sleuth and this time he has a 24 year old gorgeous and funny Ginger Rogers with him. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/20 Full Review Audience Member 'the thin man' minus myrna loy and add in Ginger Rogers Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A wannabe Thin Man mystery works pretty well. William Powell plays a lawyer trying to solve the mystery of a murdered actress. Ginger Rogers plays the Nora Charles figure as Powell's fiancé and does a pretty darn good job of trying to live up to the chemistry between Powell and Loy in the Thin Man films. The mystery itself is pretty uninvolving, but Powell and Rogers are a likable enough of onscreen couple that they make the film worth watching. Still, it's no Thin Man. Nov 20, 2020 Full Review Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine One of those fast, post-Thin-Man murder mysteries which you will have to see twice to unravel properly. Even at that I'm not sure you could unravel it; or that it is worth seeing twice. Oct 8, 2019 Full Review Graham Greene The Spectator A light, quick, sophisticated comedy.
