Through the evocative lens of cinematographer Matthew Libatique, Gray illustrates the vibrancy and pain of this moment and, for the most part, does not leave out the contradictions. Go to Full Review

This is a monster film. You will walk out feeling like you have been entertained, educated and emotionally fulfilled. Eight months into the year 2015, and this is the only perfect film that has hit the theaters. This is it. Go to Full Review

What musicians would America have oppressed if Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren, and DJ Yella listened to the naysayers and followed those who said rap music, sampling, reality rap, all of it, was a waste of time and definitely illegal? Go to Full Review

It would be nicer to savor a smaller portion of chocolate ice cream and take your time appreciating the scent of the fudge swirls or the texture of the melted ice cream. That was a long, drawn-out metaphor for what this film could have been. Go to Full Review

The story is epic enough that audiences will experience the significant musical and social influence N.W.A. had on the larger community of hip-hop, and how that influence continues to shape contemporary artists. Go to Full Review

Damon Mar 18 Excellent, masterpiece, phenomenon.... I know the story is common to a specific region, but the subject matter crosses continents. See more Sara Jan 5 Was a good one. But definitely loved the original more. See more James B Nov 22 This was an interesting movie. I honestly didn't know much of the groups history and probably knew more about them from their solo work. So, this was interesting to see their back story. I thought it was a really well made movie and I enjoyed it. See more Gabriel M @Anonymous12 Nov 21 I don't understand the hype for this movie at all. To be honest, it's just not for me. Most of the cast comes across as stereotypes, using exaggerated, cringey accents that feel more like caricatures than real people. Instead of making the story feel authentic, it feels like the film is trying too hard to make both the Black characters and the cops seem overly dramatic or "emotionally charged," and none of it comes off as natural. The acting is easily the worst part for me. There's no sense of genuine emotion or real performance - it all feels forced and shallow. Under any circumstances, O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Ice Cube), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), and Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E) don't look, sound, or embody the iconic rappers they're supposed to portray. It's distracting and disappointing on every level. Overall, this movie didn't work for me at all. I found it overrated, badly acted, and far from the powerful biopic people claim it is. See more Kacper S Nov 12 It is one of the best movies I have ever watched. I really liked it and the raw take of the rise and fall of Ruthless and eazy e. See more Nkululeko N Oct 22 I don't know how many times I've watched this movie over and over again. It's a masterpiece. Well curated narrative, very impressive. See more Read all reviews
