Eric Henderson Slant Magazine A surprisingly downbeat follow-up to director Noam Gonick's tweaked-out Hey, Happy! Rated: 2.5/4 May 10, 2006 Full Review A.O. Scott New York Times If it does nothing else, Stryker, a grim little gang melodrama directed by Noam Gonick, might dispel some American assumptions about life in Canada. Audience Member If it does nothing else, Stryker, a grim little gang melodrama directed by Noam Gonick, might dispel some American assumptions about life in Canada. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A noble attempt to explore Winnipeg's North End in all its grit and filth. The opening credits provided a montage of residential schools and reservation life, but the rest of the film really ignores the context that has lead to gangs like the Indian Posse. The film doesn't live up to the billing of being Winnipeg's Boyz in the Hood, but it does explore an aspect of Winnipeg life that is largely ignored and marginalized. Better acting would have greatly improved things as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member fucking litttle punk deucers got destroyed by IP hahahaha.... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Good, tough, raw, little movie about gang wars in Winnipeg. A teenage arsonist becomes trapped between the two factions vying for power. Scratch the surface of this one and you'll find much to appreciate; it's also shot beautifully, and gives you a bareknuckle view of matters often ignored by mainstream society. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member So good. How could I not like a movie featuring native drag queens prostituting themselves in the North End of Winnipeg? I really like how in "Hey, Happy!" there was a little sub-plot of the fire bugs and in "Stryker" the main character was a fire bug. Also, the native accents were superb. Noam Gonick is badass Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The Best Neechie movie there is !!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
