Audience Member Pure Russian poetry of a film. The music was also gorgeously rendered using Saint-Saën's "Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix". Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review raymond l One of the best movies I have ever seen. Should have been nominated for best foreign film. The views of Russian countryside are spectacular as well as the river journeys on the paddle wheeler boats. The plot gives one insight into the madness that can occur when an atheistic ideology takes hold of a country and psychopaths are put in charge. As the main characters show their bewilderment about the loss of the wonderful Russian culture that they loved so much, one can only wonder whether we Americans are traveling down that same horrible path.
